Section 1 - In Ruins
In Ruins (or, alternatively, Section 1) is the first section of Deltatraveler, taking place in Undertale's Ruins. This is the only section with Hard Mode.
It was originally released in November 13th, 2021 (while Hard Mode was released in June 27th, 2022). This section was very well received by the community including large content creators.
Story (Normal Mode)
Kris and Susie wake up at the beginning of the Undertale Ruins. Soon after, they meet Flowey, and Susie (accidentally) discovers that he wanted to steal their SOULs. Once Susie hits him, the Toriel from Undertale appears and thinks Kris is Chara; which causes her to run away crying. When Kris and Susie catch up with her and resolve the misunderstanding, Toriel suggests they go to the royal scientist (who she thinks is still W. D. Gaster) to get them back to their universe. After she gives Kris her phone number and leaves to prepare something for the two of them, they both have to make it to the end of the Ruins.
Normal Route
They make their way through the Ruins without much trouble until they reach Toriel's house (who seemed to be thinking about what she could do with the magic that brought Kris and Susie into this universe). She tells them that she has a surprise for them, and shows them that she has prepared a temporary room for the two of them. Once Kris goes to sleep, they have a dream where W.D. Gaster tells them that he can free them if they reach him through the grey doors.
After resting, as the duo decide to leave, Toriel warns them that Asgore wishes to take every human SOUL. But she knows they have to go back to their world, so she lets them go despite her fears. Upon reaching the end of the Ruins, they both confront Flowey because he wants to take their SOULs so he can travel to other worlds and see Chara again. Leaving there, they find Noelle and she joins the party. Shortly after, they meet Sans (Undertale) and he gives them information on how they can get to Hotland to meet Alphys and also tells them that his brother will try to capture Kris. When they find a grey door, Noelle trips and falls into it, so Kris and Susie jump into it as well.
Obliteration Route
They both kill all the enemies in the Ruins (Napstablook included), which starts to worry Susie and makes her think that Kris is just freaked out. When they arrive at Toriel's house (who seemed to be thinking about what she could do with the magic that brought Kris and Susie into this universe), she notices that Kris looks awful. She tells them that she has a surprise for them; showing them that she has prepared a temporary room for the two of them. Once Kris goes to sleep after the player killed everyone, they have a dream in which W. D. Gaster tells them that he can free them and cleanse them of sin if they reach him through the grey doors.

Story (Hard Mode)
Susie wakes up at the beginning of the Undertale Ruins and meets Frisk. Soon after, they meet Flowey, and Susie (accidentally) finds out that he wanted to steal their SOULS. Once Susie hits him, Toriel appears and thinks that Susie tried to kill Frisk; which makes her very hard on her. After going through some tutorials, Toriel attacks Susie because she believes that she's a danger to Frisk's life, but they get in the way and they try to defend her. After Toriel lets Susie explain herself, she suggests that she go to the royal scientist (who she thinks is still W. D. Gaster) to take her back to her universe; and trusts that she can take care of Frisk along the way. After Toriel gives Frisk a cell phone and leaves to make something for the two of them, they both have to reach the end of the Ruins.
Normal Route
They make their way through the Ruins without much trouble until they reach Toriel's house (who seemed to be thinking of convincing Frisk to stay). She tells them that she has a surprise for them, and shows them that she has prepared a temporary room for the two of them. Once Frisk goes to sleep, they have a dream in which W. D. Gaster tells us that we will meet him after finishing this side experiment.
After resting, as the duo decide to leave, Toriel warns them that Asgore wishes to take every single human SOUL, and tells Frisk that they can stay if they wish. But Susie tells her that they really don't want to be there despite that, so she lets them go despite her fears. Upon reaching the end of the Ruins, they both confront Flowey because he has Kris trapped and wants their SOULs to travel to other worlds and see Chara again. Leaving there, they find Noelle and, as she and Kris join the party, Frisk is kidnapped and taken to LOSTCORE. Soon after, they meet up with W. D. Gaster and he comments that his real experiment is getting the Delta Warriors through the grey doors without intervention. After analyzing all of Frisk's journey up to that point, he finishes them off.

Trivia
- After completing Section 1 for the first time, the initial main logo screen with Kris & Susie sprites and the text "Kris and Susie go places that they shouldn't be at" will be permanently replaced by the game's main title screen.
- In the room with the Dummy, interacting with the wall in one of the bottom right corners of the room will reveal a hidden message that says "Perhaps trapping this ghost in a room with FAKE WALLS was a Mistake ,". Repeat interactions will say that the message was written out of frustration.
- This message was added because the room with the Dummy had no collisions for a while during development, and would constantly get reported. When VyletBunni finally got around to adding collisions to the room, the message was thrown in as a joke.[1]
- This section will be receiving a major expansion in the next update to Deltatraveler. There will be new areas to explore, including the Dark Ruins from Undertale Yellow, another fangame.[2]
- One of the new areas to explore will be an original location known as "The Catacombs", an original area that is a part of the Ruins. This area appears to also include an unknown new character or enemy shown in a teaser image posted on Deltatraveler's social media accounts.[3]
